How PTO becomes a continuous break

A useful leave plan is not simply a list of public holidays. The planner evaluates continuous date windows and counts only the working weekdays that require leave. Weekend days and nationwide public holidays extend the break without consuming the selected PTO allowance.

1. Start with the real work calendarSelect the country, year, and weekend pattern that apply to your normal schedule.
2. Test every qualifying windowThe calculation checks which weekdays consume PTO and which dates are already non-working days.
3. Rank length and efficiencyLonger breaks rank highly, while the efficiency score shows total days away per PTO day used.

A simple worked example

If a Monday is a nationwide holiday, requesting Tuesday through Friday uses four PTO days. With the weekends on both sides, the continuous break can run for nine calendar days. Actual results vary by year and country.
